Yehoshua 3 - Summary
(Text) - After the spies return, Yehoshua leads the nation to the bank of the Jordan River. Three days later, after Hashem gives Chizzuk to Yehoshua on how this day will prove to the nation that Hashem is with Yehoshua, Yehoshua gathers the nation and tells them the miracle that Hashem will perform, and the protocol on crossing the river. Then, Yehoshua commands the nation to purify themselves, and then explains that after this miracle you (the nation) will know that Hashem is with you and that he will wipe out the enemies in Israel. Sure enough the next day, the twelve carriers of the Aron Haberit, the nassi from each of the twelve tribes which was 2,000 Amot ahead as Yehoshua commanded, entered the river. As all of the carriers planted their feet in the river, the river which flows southward stopped flowing and the water coming from the north stopped which formed a wall. As the carriers of the ark remained implanted in the water, all of Bene Yisrael walked across the Jordan into Eretz Yisrael.
